'It's possible' - Lorient coach hopeful injured Super Eagles striker can feature v PSG
Published: October 21, 2022
Lorient manager Régis Le Bris provided a fitness update on Terem Moffi at his press conference to preview his side's Ligue 1 meeting with Troyes this weekend.
The Nigeria international has been ruled out of the trip to Troyes after spraining his right ankle last weekend in the goalless draw against Stade de Reims.
Ten minutes into the game, Moffi twisted his ankle after an aerial duel with Rémois Abdelhamid, and tried to play through the pain barrier but was unable to continue in the 24th minute.
Moffi underwent further tests earlier this week to determine the status of his injury and it was revealed that he suffered a sprained ankle.
The length of the layoff has not been revealed by Lorient but an update will be provided in the coming days, depending on his rehabilitation.
Apart from the upcoming game against Troyes, Le Bris hinted that he will not be able to call upon the club's leading scorer against OGC Nice on October 30, but hopes the Nigerian can feature against Paris Saint-Germain a week later.
Speaking to reporters, Le Bris said : "It's a sprain that is not very advanced, which we will deal with day by day”.
Asked if it's possible Moffi could return to action for the visit of PSG in fifteen days, Le Bris replied : "It's possible,"
Only Neymar (PSG) and Jonathan David (Lille) who are both on nine goals have scored more than Moffi (8) in the 2022-2023 season.
