Why Arsenal are topping the Premier League - Former Liverpool and Chelsea boss
Published: October 16, 2022Former LiverpooL, Chelsea and Everton manager Rafa Benitez on Sunday evening hailed the season that Premier League leaders Arsenal are having so far and explained why they are doing excellently in the current campaign as League leaders.
Benitez was guest analyst on the Premier League Production set in company of Liverpool legend Michael Owen and onetime Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given.
Arsenal defeated Leeds 1-0 in a very difficult game for the Gunners at Elland Road but Benitez had good words for the job Mikel Arteta and his players have done so far.
"I think they are doing well. They do a lot of things very well, they press high. They have possession and they move the ball very quickly. Their defenders are very tall and very dynamic upfront.
"As soon as they give the ball away they press and they recover the ball quickly," Benitez stated further.
The Gunners are still top of table with 27 points from 10 matches after Bukayo Saka's goal ensured they beat Leeds and despite not playing midweek in the league following the postponement of their fixture against Manchester City, the north London side will not be usurped.
Mikel Arteta's men will on Thursday face PSV in the UEFA Europa League at the Emirates then play Southampton in their next Premier League game on Sunday.
Second placed Manchester City lost their unbeaten run in the current on Sunday evening by losing 1-0 against Liverpool through a Mohamed Salah goal.
