Former Man Utd midfielder tells Iwobi what to do to become undroppable at Everton
Published: October 10, 2022Manchester United showed last weekend's 6-3 drubbing at the hands of city rivals Manchester City was just a blip as they responded in a positive way on Sunday evening, coming from behind to beat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park,
Frank Lampard's team got off to a great start inside five minutes as Alex Iwobi with a stunning effort from just outside the box opened the scoring but ultimately the Toffees left the pitch with nothing.
Antony, a summer signing from Ajax Amsterdam, became the first Manchester United player to score in each of his first three appearances when he equalised with a curled finish in the 15th minute and Cristiano Ronaldo, on as a substitute to replace Anthony Martial, scored what proved to be the winner just before halftime.
Iwobi is not known for his goalscoring prowess at club level with 23 goals in 256 appearances combined for both Arsenal and Everton.
Speaking on Premier League Productions after the game, former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves lauded Iwobi for his work rate but urged him to add goals to his game to complete the final piece of the jigsaw.
Hargreaves said on Iwobi's goal : "It's a fantastic finish. Under Frank he has been fantastic with great energy in that midfield.
"If he can add goals to his game, he's undroppable. "
Iwobi has gone the distance in every single game contested by Everton this season, ten in total.
