In the Championship, Southampton loanee Nathan Tella continued his good form with the match-winning strike for Burnley in a 1-0 win over Coventry City, taking his tally for the Clarets to five goals in eleven outings.
Six minutes before halftime, Tella sealed all three points for the visitors, slotting home after a dinked pass from Josh Cullen.
Still in the division, Liverpool academy product Sheyi Ojo opened his account for the season as Cardiff City defeated Wigan Atletic 3-1 at the DW Stadium.
In the 65th minute, the 2017 U20 World Cup winner tapped home to double the advantage.
A division lower, Victor Adeboyejo netted his seventh of the season as Burton Albion and Peterborough shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Weston Homes Stadium.
The former Arsenal schoolboy ensured Burton Albion went home with a point when he finished from close range in the 75th minute.
Elsewhere, 2019 Flying Eagles invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored Sheffield Wednesday's third goal in their 3-0 rout of Cheltenham at Hillsborough.
Manchester City academy product Dele-Bashiru wrapped up the scoring as he finished from just inside the box with five minutes left on the clock.
