Sodje namechecks Partey as he reveals three Arsenal players who impressed him v Brentford

There was more encouragement of good times ahead for Arsenal after their 3-0 thrashing of Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta's team returned to the top of the Premier League standings heading into the first international break of the season thanks to goals from William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira.

Retired Nigeria international Sam Sodje, who watched the game from the stands, believes Arsenal are the team to beat in the 2022-2023 season but noted that their title credentials will be judged after Christmas.

Sodje namechecked Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey as he revealed the three Arsenal players who impressed him the most during the win against his former club.

Partey made a return to the Gunners starting lineup after recovering a thigh issue that saw him miss four consecutive games in the Premier League.

"I don't think Brentford played bad at all, Arsenal were on a different level and were just unplayable. It was a very good side," Sodje said to allnigeriasoccer.com.

"From what people said they've seen Manchester City and Liverpool last season, this Arsenal side that played on Sunday against Brentford, they are the best team that have been there.

"A couple of Arsenal players impressed me, the Ghanaian player Thomas Partey, the way he bossed the midfield was so impressive, then Vieira. The ex-Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, his work rate is ridiculous, he works so hard.

"What Arteta has got is a very good blend. I played the league, I know how it is at Christmas, I think you can only talk about them after Christmas. From what I watched on Sunday, they are the on a different level this season."

In a league which has been dominated by Manchester City in recent seasons, the Gunners have accumulated eighteen points, one more than the Citizens, before their next match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, October 1.
