Super Eagles-eligible midfielder scores brace for Chelsea in 2-1 friendly win v Brighton
Published: September 17, 2022Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka was the star performer as Chelsea defeated Brighton & Hove 2-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday.
According to Football London's chief Chelsea correspondent, Adam Newson, the players that started against Red Bull Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday did not feature.
The friendly was arranged by both clubs to keep the players in shape after their matches this weekend were called off following Queen Elizabeth's death.
The Blues were supposed to face Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and the Seagulls would have hosted Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Chukwuemeka got both goals for Chelsea in the friendly staged at the American Express Community Stadium.
The summer signing from Aston Villa was given a run out by manager Graham Potter after failing to make his debut off the bench against the Austrian champions in the Champions League.
Since joining Chelsea last month, the England youth international of Nigerian descent has been named in four matchday squads without getting minutes.
