Chelsea battling Arsenal for teammate of Nigeria international left-back

English Premier League side, Chelsea have shown interest in Pepê, a teammate of Nigeria international left-back Zaidu Sanusi at Porto.

 

According to Portuguese outlet, Record, Chelsea have submitted a bid for Eduardo Gabriel Aquino Cossa who's commonly addressed as Pepe.


The bid was however rejected as it fell short of Porto's valuation for the , and they've reiterated that he'll not go for anything less than his release clause.


In Pepe's contract, he has a release clause of £59 million.


Chelsea's Premier League rivals, Arsenal have previously sent a £25.3m bid for the 25-year-old.


Pepe became an integral part of Porto's first team following the departure of Luis Diaz to Liverpool in January 2022.


He made 42 total appearances last term, netting six goals and laying on six assists.


The former Brazil youth international joined FC Porto for €15 million from Brazilian club, Gremio in July 2021.
