'Alex is playing at a really high level' - Lampard praises Iwobi after MOTM display
Published: August 24, 2022Everton manager Frank Lampard has lauded Alex Iwobi for his performance during his side's 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
Demarai Gray scored what proved to be the winning goal after the ball was worked into his path by the Nigeria international in the 28th minute.
Iwobi's imperious display against the League One club at Highbury Stadium earned him the Player of the Match - an award voted on by Everton fans.

For the fourth consecutive game in all competitions this season, the Hale End Academy graduate operated in a central midfield role, partnering summer signing Onana in a 3-4-3 formation.
Lampard revealed that Iwobi's game has improved since he was appointed as Everton manager in January 2022.
Speaking to Everton's official webpage, Lampard stated : "Alex is playing at a really high level where he plays – midfield, higher up the pitch – and he works off the ball and he's huge player for this squad.
"We're delighted with his performances and since I've been here he's been getting better and better. He's started the season in great form."
Iwobi's goal contribution against Fleetwood Town was his first for the Toffees since May 8, 2022 when he set up
Vitaliy Mykolenko in a 2-1 win vs Leicester City.
The number 17 has gone the distance in all the matches played by Everton in the new season.
