Chelsea target banished from training with Iheanacho, Ndidi, other Leicester City first teamers

Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana has been banished to the club's U-21 developmental squad after not joining the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and other first teamers for training last week.

Fofana is the subject of a transfer interest from Chelsea with a latest bid of £60m with a possible £10m in add-ons made this week.

Chelsea are keen to bolster their defensive ranks following the departure of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.

The Blues have acquired Senegal’s Kalidou Koulibaly who was a former teammate of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen at SS Napoli but are still looking for cover at centre-back positions.

Fofana had a decent game when he featured in the 4-2 defeat to Arsenal on August 13, a game in which Super Eagles striker Iheanacho assisted James Maddison's goal from the near post.

Ndidi in that game also supported Fofana a great deal and on one occasion, produced a magnificent tackle to deny in-form Gabriel Jesus inside the penalty box.

Fofana was not part of the Carabao Cup penalty win against Stockport on Tuesday night which sees the Foxes qualifying for the round 3 of the competition.

Nigeria midfielder Ndidi was an unused substitute while Iheanacho played all 90 minutes in the game against Stockport.

France U21  international Fofana will train with Leicester U-21 team who have in their ranks American-Nigerian goalkeeper Chitiru Odunze.
