Official : Talented defender extends contract with Chelsea before loan move to WSL rivals
Published: August 23, 2022Through a statement on their official website, Chelsea have announced that England U19 international Jorja Fox has extended her contract with Chelsea Women and has been loaned out to Women's Super League rivals Brighton & Hove for the 2022-2023 season.
The new deal signed by the talented defender will keep her at The Blues until the summer of 2025.
The 18-year-old Fox joined Chelsea at the age of eight, rising through the academy ranks before making her senior debut in a 4-0 rout of Aston Villa in January 2021, coming off the bench for the last six minutes.
She has also appeared in the UEFA Women's Champions League for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Fox spent the second half of the 2021-2022 campaign on loan at Charlton Athletic, where she made eleven appearances in the Women's Championship.
"We’re extremely happy to be extending Jorja’s contract for a further two years," Chelsea Women general manager Paul Green told the club's official website.
"She has gained a lot of experience with the team over the past season and her loan to Brighton will now help her development further, gaining important WSL match minutes."
Fox signed her first professional contract with Chelsea in 2021.
