Super Eagles star makes first EPL appearance since March as Bees sting Manchester United
Published: August 13, 2022Manchester United faced Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday evening in the second game-week of the new Premier League season. The score ended in a 4-0 thrashing of the Red Devils.
Nigeria international Frank Onyeka made the substitute bench for Thomas Frank's men as the game got off to a beautiful start for Manchester United as they got up the pitch and caused problems.
The Bees opened the scoring in the tenth minute as DaSilva took advantage of a De-Gea error to put his team in front.
Things got bad for the Red Devils just eight minutes later as new signing Christian Eriksen got dispossessed and Jensen slotted in the resulting opportunity.
Bad turned to worse as Ben Mee scored a header from a corner kick in the 30th minute, taking advantage of the lack of aerial presence from United's backline.
United were bested in every aspect of the game including pressing, dueling, passing and composure.
Brentford put in another in the 35th minute through Mbeumo courtesy of some incredible work from Ivan Toney to put the Bees four-nil ahead heading into halftime thus making the game a misery for Erik Ten Hag.
After long periods of intense back and forth football, Onyeka was brought on in the 80th minute for Norgaard to help add some legs to the midfield - his first Premier League appearance since the middle of March due to an ankle issue.
However, after a heavy challenge from Scott McTominnay, Onyeka needed some treatment in the 84th minute before he could carry on.
Onyeka almost put in a fifth as his drilled shot was parried by De-Gea after United failed to clear their lines.
