Gary Neville namechecks Ighalo as he comments on Man Utd's link with Marko Arnautovic
Published: August 07, 2022Former Manchester United and England right back Gary Neville believes there is an intentional effort in recent transfer windows to bring in strikers in the twilight of their careers and namechecked Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo.
Speaking to Sky Sports News Sunday night as monitored by All Nigeria Soccer, Neville in the company of former United captain Roy Keane, and Micah Richards who played for Manchester City was analyzing the day's games particularly that of United's and then the transfer window.
The Red Devils started their 2022/2023 campaign on a false note, losing 2-1 to Brighton and Hove.
On the transfer speculation linking Marko Arnautovic to Manchester United, Neville said:
"There seems to be a pattern. Man United now goes for players towards the end of their careers like Radamel Falcao, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Odion Ighalo.
"It's now a pattern. We don't even get agitated or get angry anymore about it," Neville stated in response to a question about the supposed interest in Arnautovic.
Ighalo played for a year at Old Trafford between January 2020 and January 2021.
The former Watford frontman netted five goals in twenty three appearances as a Manchester United player, and made his debuts in the Europa League and UEFA Champions League during his time at Old Trafford.
