Arsenal-owned Flying Eagles-eligible youngster makes senior debut for non-leaguers
Published: August 07, 2022Arsenal-owned Flying Eagles-eligible goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri, who has been loaned to Chelmsford City until January 2023, made his senior debut in a National League South clash against St Albans City on Saturday at the Melbourne Stadium.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw as both teams had to settle for a point as Ejeheri made his competitive debut.
The game started well with Chelmsford working the ball into a dangerous area before a weak cross was cleared by Callum Adebiyi.
Chelmsford got their first goalscoring chance of the evening as midfielder Devonte Aransibia was given time and space to shoot at the edge of the area.
Ejeheri was nearly responsible for an opening goal for St Albans as he misjudged the flight of a cross which nearly landed for Adebiyi to score.
Wiltshire opened the scoring for St Albans after pouncing on a loosely cleared free-kick to power his finish past Ejeheri with an emphatic volley.
Chelmsford equalised in the 77th minute as Aransibia fired a long-range shot past Johnson. The game ended with both sides unable to find the winning goal.
The 19-year-old got his first taste of men's football eleven years after he was officially signed by the Gunners.
