Football Association of Ireland confirm West Ham's Nigeria-eligible CB has joined Celtic
Published: August 03, 2022The Football Association of Ireland have confirmed that West Ham youth teamer of Nigerian descent Justin Osagie has completed his move to Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Celtic.
In preparation for the UEFA European Championship Qualifiers which take place in September, Republic of Ireland U19 manager Tom Mohan has called up thirty players for a three-day training camp in Loughborough, England and Osagie is part of the group.
Osagie has been listed as a Glasgow Celtic player on the Republic of Ireland U19 roster and is among twelve defenders selected for the training camp.
The Hoops have yet to announce the transfer of the versatile Irish-Nigerian central defender, more than eight days after he was pictured in a Celtic jersey.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported a week ago that Osagie has already put pen to paper on a three-year contract, keeping him at Parkhead until June 30, 2025.
He links up with Tobi Oluwayemi and Bosun Lawal at Celtic B team, who compete in the Lowland League.
Republic of Ireland will face Hungary, Wales and Gibraltar in Group 4 of the European U19 Championship qualifiers next month and Osagie would become provisionally cap-tied to Ireland should he made his U19 debut in any of the matches since they are competitive.
