Done deal : Arsenal loan out Irish-Nigerian defender to Red Devils in EFL

Nigeria-eligible defender Mazeed Ogungbo has joined League Two club Crawley Town, the Red Devils have informed via their official website.

The defender will be linking up with former Arsenal youth team coaches Kevin Betsy and Dan Micciche who previously worked alongside the player at the Gunners.

The Republic of Ireland youth international is credited with 23 career appearances in the Premier League 2 and was an unused substitute for the first-team during Premier League matches against Crystal Palace and Southampton in 2021-2022.

Ogungbo is a highly versatile player who is able to perform at left-back or centre-back to a high level of performance.

His technical abilities are also an attraction for manager Mikel Arteta who rates him highly.

The Irish-Nigerian signed his first professional contract with the club in 2021 but was not on the plane with the club on their pre-season tour of the United States of America despite being called up to senior training several times at London Colney.

Ogungbo is the second Hale Ender of Nigerian descent to join Crawley Town in the summer transfer window, after Tobi Omole, who made his professional debut at the weekend against Carlisle United.
