'Serie A is a top competition' - Cremonese target Dessers dreaming of moving to Italy
Published: July 26, 2022Cyriel Dessers has admitted that he's dreaming of moving to the Italian Serie A amid speculation linking him with an imminent transfer to Cremonese.
Despite a successful loan spell at Feyenoord, where he mustered 20 goals in 41 all-competition appearances and was the Europa Conference League top scorer for 2021-2022, the Dutch club did not trigger the purchase clause inserted into his deal.
Now back at parent club Genk, Dessers needed only thirty minutes to open his account as the Blue-White were beaten 3-2 by Club Brugge on the opening day of the 2022-2023 season.
Belgian media previously reported that Genk had rejected an undisclosed bid from Cremonese for the services of the Nigeria international.
Commenting on his future after Sunday's game at Jan-Breydel-Stadion, Dessers said to Het Laatste Nieuws, via Voetbal International : "We'll see what comes next. There is some interest. It all starts to move. I'm just as curious as you about what Genk will say.
"I don't know if Feyenoord is still an option. You will have to ask there.
"Serie A is a top competition and that's what I dream of. It's all a matter of waiting, although I think everyone could see today that I give everything for Genk."
Dessers has two years left on his contract with Racing Genk, whom he joined from Heracles Almelo in July 2020.
