Porto's Super Eagles star reacts to Crystal Palace, Brighton, Fulham links; release clause revealed
Published: July 21, 2022Porto defender Zaidu Sanusi has played down speculation in the media linking him with a transfer to the English Premier League.
The Nigeria international is reportedly a subject of interest to Brighton & Hove, Fulham and Crystal Palace this summer.
The Seagulls are expected to delve into the transfer market before the window closes as they might lose Marc Cucurella to Manchester City.
Crystal Palace are looking for an ideal signing to provide cover for young left-back Tyrick Mitchell, while Fulham need a reinforcement at left-back following their promotion to the Premier League.
Sanusi has three years left on his contract with Porto and it is confirmed that he has a release clause of fifty million euros (approximately N21.2 billion) included in his deal.
When asked to confirm reports of Brighton, Fulham, Crystal Palace's interest in his services, Sanusi told allnigeriasoccer.com on Thursday : "I saw the reports in the newspaper and I am not thinking about it. They have not told me anything about the interest from these clubs.
"For now, I am staying in Porto, but I don't know yet if I'll move because the transfer window has not closed. Maybe I will stay. The interested clubs are not in contact with me.
"I am thinking about Porto not about any other club. I respect my team and my agent so I am waiting for them to tell me about the clubs that are interested."
Since landing at Porto from CD Santa Clara in the summer of 2020, Sanusi has scored five goals in 80 appearances in all competitions.
The Super Eagles defender became a darling to the Porto fans after his injury time game-winning strike against Benfica handed the Dragons their 30th league title in May.
