Exclusive : French club Marseille send scout to watch Golden Eaglets stars at U17 WAFU B
Published: June 24, 2022
European clubs have a keen interest in the WAFU U-17 Championship which comes to a conclusion on Friday evening, with five-time world champions Nigeria facing Burkina Faso in the showpiece.
Although the identity of majority of the foreign scouts in attendance cannot be ascertained at the moment, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that French Ligue 1 club Marseille sent one of their talent spotters to watch the games involving the Golden Eaglets.
A number of Golden Eaglets players must have impressed the Marseille scout , including unarguably the standout player of the tournament, Emmanuel Michael.
The exciting left-back has won three Man of the Match awards in back-to-back matches against Ghana, Togo and Ivory Coast.
The dead-ball specialist scored two excellent free-kick goals as Nigeria came from a goal down to defeat Ivory Coast on Tuesday, taking his tally to three goals in the competition in the process.
Other Golden Eaglets players who have caught the eye include Yahaya Lawal, Jubril Azeez, Precious Williams and super-sub Light Eke.
