Why Chelsea should sign Nigeria's most valuable player to replace Inter-bound Lukaku

Transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku will be leaving Stamford Bridge Stadium on loan to return to Inter Milan just a year after leaving the Nerazzurri.

The big striker has found it hard to adapt to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel's playing style and is frustrated by the way he was being utilised in the team.

In his defence, Lukaku has often been misunderstood by various coaches. Due to his size and strength, most coaches believe that the Belgian fits the description of a modern-day target man who uses his strength to hold off defenders and create space for the onrushing attackers.

But Lukaku's game is not best suited that way. The Belgian is at his best coming from the left or right half-space using his searing pace and power to burst past players and open passing lanes.

His bad combinational play is a huge problem to the possession superiority game Tuchel is implementing at Chelsea.

However, with his loan move to Inter Milan being all but confirmed, should Chelsea's manager consider the Super Eagles' most valuable player (according to Transfermarkt) Victor Osimhen for the striking role?

Osimhen belongs to a category of modern strikers known as "physical playmakers". He is good on the ball and has great combinational play which helps him bring the attackers forward in settled play.

Combining with the likes of Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic and so on would help Osimhen show his combinations better.

He is incredibly quick and clinical. His first touch is significantly better than Lukaku's which will help Chelsea hold onto the ball better in advanced areas of the pitch.

While he is not as aesthetically pleasing as Harry Kane or Karim Benzema, Osimhen could be as effective in their roles if he is properly developed which Thomas Tuchel is one of the best minds in the game to help the Nigerian achieve.

In the Premier League, Brentford's Ivan Toney, and Everton's Calvert-Lewin are similar to Osimhen but quite not on the same level as the Nigerian.

Osimhen would work well in Thomas Tuchel's system and the German manager should consider signing him for the striking role.
