Opinion : Dennis for Martial or Lingard could be Erik ten Hag's Manchester United masterstroke
Published: June 15, 2022Erik ten Hag's evolution at Manchester United has not started yet but there are a lot of good feelings about what the Dutch manager would bring to Old Trafford.
Ten Hag is a certified modern-day manager who is also a strong disciple of the famous Juego de Posicion tactical set-up which world-class managers like Pep Guardiola, Jürgen Klopp, Hansi Flick and Thomas Tuchel are known for.
Many reports have linked players like Barcelona's Frenkie De Jong and Ajax's Jurrien Timber with big-money moves to the club which shows that the manager is looking to implement his favoured football style at Old Trafford.
However, a masterstroke signing Erik ten Hag could make could be replacing Frenchman Anthony Martial and now-departed Jesse Lingard with Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis.
Having spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla to little success, Anthony Martial has been rumoured to be in line for a move away from the club.
Jesse Lingard was also released a while ago which leaves United short in the attacking department.
Enter Emmanuel Dennis, a man who has the ability to fill the two positions held by Lingard and Martial for Ten Haag with good quality.
Dennis is quite versatile and can fill the role of an attacking midfielder, winger or second striker if necessary.
A hungry player who would also be content to play a rotational role for Cristiano Ronaldo including a variety of others seems to be a no-brainer for the club.
A rebuild the size of United needs to undergo usually takes time and starts from the back.
This is why United have not been strongly linked with an attacking player pending the time Ten Hag fixes the defending and attacking structure.
For minimal wages and transfer fees due to Watford's relegation, Dennis could do a job for the club up front.
