Manchester United retained list confirms Nigeria-eligible midfielder has signed a new deal
Published: June 12, 2022
Manchester United's retained list submitted to the English Premier League has confirmed that Nigeria-eligible midfielder Maximillian Oyedele has signed a new deal with the Old Trafford giants.
Last month, the Poland U18 international took to social media to announce that he has signed his first professional contract with Manchester United.
Though Oyedele did not reveal the length of contract, Premier League clubs can only offer a maximum of a three-year deal to players under the age of eighteen.
The 17-year-old, who began the 2021-2022 season as a first-year scholar, was not listed as a scholar on Manchester United's retained list but as a player under contract.
Oyedele was rewarded with a new deal after a breakout season that saw him help Manchester United win the FA Youth Cup, and he debuted in the UEFA Youth League and Premier League 2.
England U19 international Shola Shoretire has also been retained by Manchester United ahead of what promises to be a defining season for the 2004-born winger.
