Sheffield Wednesday considering new deal for 2019 Flying Eagles invitee
Published: June 08, 2022
Sheffield Wednesday are gearing up for a crucial season in their quest to return to the Championship, after missing promotion via the playoffs in 2021-2022.
It is expected that the Owls' promotion hopes will be bolstered even further this summer by a successful recruitment process and tying down key players to new contracts.
The Star reports that the club's hierarchy is exploring another deal for 2019 Flying Eagles invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
The 21-year-old's current contract at Hillsborough expires on June 30, 2023, and the club are considering offering an improved deal to the Manchester City academy product.
Dele-Bashiru totaled 32 appearances in all competitions last term, of which 24 were in the League One, and netted his first senior goal in a 1-1 draw vs Cambridge United in October.
His talents and performances last season are sure to have attracted the attention of the Owls higher-ups which is believed to be the reason they are taking a proactive approach to secure his future.
Hamburg-born Dele-Bashiru trained with the Nigeria U20 squad in Germany before they headed to Poland for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup.
His sibling, Tom Dele-Bashiru has played competitive matches for Nigeria at U20 and U23 levels.
