Mexico v Nigeria : The best and worst performing players during the game
Published: May 29, 2022
Jose Peseiro took charge of the Super Eagles for the first time in the friendly match between Nigeria and Mexico earlier today.
The game ended in defeat for the Super Eagles of Nigeria with a 2-1 scoreline and allnigeriasoccer.com brings you the best and worst performing players during the game.
Best performing players
1. Calvin Bassey : The Rangers defender was excellent in his position and he kept the Mexicans at bay many times.
He was not only a great defender, but he also made a few forays forward. His work was capped off by a clutch assist.
2. Alex Iwobi : The Everton star has continued his fine club form for the Super Eagles. He did an excellent job of controlling the midfield and creating numerous attacking angles in the game.
3. Cyriel Dessers : A nice goal from Dessers in the 54th minute gave the Europa Conference League top scorer his first Super Eagles goal.
In spite of the fact that Mexico went ahead a few minutes later, he kept trying to score. His diagonal runs gave the Mexican backline a lot to ponder about and he was excellent aerially.
4. Joe Aribo : The Rangers ace formed a good partnership with Iwobi in the middle of the pitch. He was quite busy with defensive duties and wasn't able to stamp his authority on the game as he would have liked.
Worst performing players
1. Moses Simon : The Nantes winger had a performance he would like to forget quickly. In several instances, he was not on the same wavelength with his teammates and hindered the attacking flow.
2. Troost Ekong: The skipper played poorly in the game aside from his own goal which gave Mexico the victory. He has Francis Uzoho to thank for saving many of his blunders with crucial saves.
