1982 World Cup winner insists Napoli will find it difficult to replace Osimhen amid PL links
Published: May 04, 2022Alessandro Altobelli, famous for scoring Italy's third goal in their win over Germany in the 1982 World Cup, has said that it would be difficult for Napoli to replace Victor Osimhen amid speculation linking the striker with a move to the Premier League this summer.
It has been widely reported that Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United are interested in signing the Nigeria international, who has been valued in excess of 100 million euros by Napoli.
Since landing at Napoli from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has been an important player for the Blues, netting 27 goals in 59 appearances across all competitions and has nine assists to his name.
Altobelli has predicted that Osimhen's proposed move to the Premier League will not materialize.
"The nice thing is that there are so many English teams ready to make false moves for him, but I don't think the club want to sell him," he said on Canale 8, according to Calcio Napoli 24.
"Even with a cash out of 150m euros, it would bot be easy to replace him. Napoli don't need money but strong players."
The 23-year-old Osimhen has a valid contract with Napoli until June 30, 2025.
