The Nigeria Football Federation have been handed a fine by governing body of football, Fifa following a pitch invasion in the aftermath of the Super Eagles 1-1 draw with Ghana in a 2022 World Cup playoff on March 29.
Angry Super Eagles fans stormed the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja pitch after the final whistle and Police were forced to disperse them with teargas.
Advertising boards were defaced and there were skirmishes between supporters and security force.
The Ghana and Nigeria players were pelted with objects and were left to battle their way into the dressing rooms.
Fifa have analyzed the official match report and a statement from the organization on Monday confirmed that the Nigeria Football Federation have been fined CHF 150,000.00 (approximately N64m) for the unruly behavior of their supporters.
In addition, the association, with headquarters in Zurich, ordered the Super Eagles to play one competitive match behind closed doors.
"Order and security at matches (failure to implement existing safety rules and failure to ensure that law and order are maintained in the stadium, invasion of the field of play and throwing of objects)," Fifa said in a statement.
The Super Eagles begin their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a home game against Sierra Leone next month.
