Super Eagles camp update : All present and correct as Sadiq and Enyimba GK report for duty
Published: March 23, 2022
All the players invited for the back-to-back matches against Ghana have reported for international duty, the Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed.
Almeria striker Umar Sadiq linked up with the team in Abuja on Wednesday before the arrival of Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble.
Sadiq shook off a minor knock earlier this week and was included in the starting lineup of the Rojiblancos in their 1-0 win over Tenerife on Monday, March 21, capping off a fine performance by earning a penalty for his side which was converted.
The former AS Roma starlet arrives the Super Eagles camp in red-hot form with seven goals in his last seven matches in the Spanish LaLiga 2 but is set to be the third choice striker against Ghana, behind Victor Osimhen and Odion Ighalo.
Enyimba goalkeeper Noble has joined the Super Eagles team at short notice following the withdrawal of Watford loanee Maduka Okoye due to illness.
There's huge controversy surrounding Augustine Eguavoen's decision to hand a late call-up to Noble considering the fact that he was forced off injured after 69 minutes in Enyimba's goalless draw at Wikki Tourists on Sunday evening.
The Super Eagles' goalkeeper coach and medical team will attempt to get him back into shape before Friday evening's clash with Ghana.
