Leicester City star Lookman reports for Super Eagles duty; Enyimba GK flight scheduled for 8am
Published: March 23, 2022
Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman has linked up with the Super Eagles in Abuja ahead of a possible senior debut for the Nigeria national team this month.
Allnigeriasoccer.com reported on Tuesday that the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner had assured the Super Eagles coaching staff that he would join up with the team on Wednesday, March 23 and this has now come to pass.
It had been speculated that he was doubtful for the back-to-back matches against the Black Stars after he was substituted in the second half of Leicester City's Europa Conference League tie at Rennes on Thursday and three days later the winger missed out on the matchday squad for the visit of Brentford in the Premier League due to illness.
With the arrival of Lookman, there are now 23 players in camp, enough to make the matchday squad against Ghana.
As exclusively reported by this website on Tuesday evening, FC Copenhagen dazzler Akinkunmi Amoo showed up in camp last night after missing his initial flight from Scandinavia on Monday.
It is confirmed that Enyimba star John Noble, a late replacement for the ill Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, will join the team on Wednesday, with his flight scheduled to take off this morning at 0800 hours.
The Super Eagles held their first training session on grass on Tuesday evening under the guidance of interim boss Augustine Eguavoen.
