Aribo reveals GvB's message at halftime to Rangers players in draw against Dundee United
Published: February 21, 2022
Joe Aribo was understandably very frustrated after Glasgow Rangers dropped points in the title race following a 1-1 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice Park on Sunday afternoon.
Bitter rivals Celtic did not squander the chance to open up a three-point gap at the top of the table with a 3-2 win over Dundee at Celtic Park.
After Ross Graham's goal ensured Dundee United were 1-0 up at the break, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey combined to rescue a point for the champions with fourteen minutes remaining when the number 17 powered the ball into the net after the defender's cut back.
Despite putting the home team under a lot of pressure in the first half, Rangers were unable to make a breakthrough.
Aribo has revealed what Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst told the players in the dressing room during the interval.
On the manager's message at halftime, Aribo said to Rangers TV post-match : "We had to take more shots, we needed to get the ball in and around the area and make it harder for their defenders, and that's what we had to do in the second half.
"And that's what we did but we just couldn't get lucky enough to get that second goal that we were pushing for".
Up next for Aribo and his Rangers teammates, they face German giants Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their Europa League knockout round playoff tie at Ibrox Stadium on Thursday, February 24.
