Primera Iberdrola : Nigeria captain reacts after hat-trick for Barcelona in rout of Real Betis
Published: January 30, 2022
Nigeria captain Asisat Oshoala stole the show as Barcelona thrashed Real Betis 4-0 in a Primera Iberdrola clash at Estadi Johan Cruyff (Sant Joan DespĂ) on Saturday afternoon.
The Super Falcons captain bagged her fourth career hat-trick since her move to the European champions in January 2019, first on loan before a permanent switch at the end of the 2018-2019 season.
Oshoala broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, doubled the lead with another close range strike at minute 36 and a minute to the end of the half the number 20 rounded a defender to complete her hat-trick.
Speaking to Barcelona Femeni's social media channels after the game, Oshoala expressed her joy at scoring a treble and vowed to continue working hard whenever she's given an opportunity to play.
"I think we had a good game today, judging from the fact that we had a a big win last week from the Supercopa game.
"We came into the game with more confidence playing at home in front of the fans as well so it's a really good and interesting one for us.
"I'm really not aware but I'm really happy like I said earlier keep working for the team, I'm trying to get the goals as much as I can, also try to work so hard for my teammates as well whenever I get the opportunity."
As well as being on the scoresheet fifteen times in the Spanish top-flight, Oshoala found the net against her former employer Arsenal in the UEFA Women's Champions League in October 2021.
