'Sudan more difficult that Egypt' - MOTM Simon makes big claim after Super Eagles' win
Published: January 16, 2022
Moses Simon made a big claim after helping Nigeria secure their second win of the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday evening, saying that the Sudanese were more difficult opponents than Mohamed Salah's Egypt.
After three assists at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Nantes winger finally opened his tournament account when he chested the ball down and slotted home thirty five seconds after the restart.
He was named Man of the Match for his efforts this time after narrowly missing out on the award in the Super Eagles opener against Egypt.
Speaking post-match, Simon dedicated his Man of the Match award to his teammates and also praised the coaching staff led by Augustine Eguavoen.
The Super Eagles number 15 said : "All thanks to the team and the technical staff, we worked really hard for this and I believe the Man of the Match goes to the team".
Asked if the Sudanese were more difficult than the Egyptians, Simon responded : "Yes actually, we knew of course they were more difficult for us because we expected it and we were ready for them".
Following back-to-back wins, Nigeria are guaranteed to top Group D of the Africa Cup of Nations regardless of the outcome of the meeting between Egypt and Sudan.
