Udinese coach compares Osimhen to Tammy Abraham, has been keeping tabs on Napoli striker
Published: September 20, 2021Udinese coach Luca Gotti has revealed an interesting detail about Victor Osimhen before his side's Serie A meeting with Napoli at Dacia Arena (Udine) on Monday, saying he has been keeping tabs on the Nigeria international for at least two years.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Gotti did not hide his admiration for the Super Eagles striker and highlighted that he's beginning to show his potential after a difficult start to life at Napoli.
Signed for a club record fee of 70 million euros, the former Lille star missed several games in the first half of last season after picking up a shoulder injury while on international duty with Nigeria, before testing positive for coronavirus.
"I followed him before Napoli bought him, at Lille and with Nigeria. I thought right away that it was a good buy for the Serie A," Gotti told reporters ( via Napolicalciolive).
"Last year he had an injury that limited him and kept him out for a long time, now he is showing all his qualities."
Gotti has compared Osimhen to another talented youngster Tammy Abraham who switched to AS Roma from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
"I am feeling the same sensation for him for Abraham of Roma : they are both very strong ones who must not be given space, even if they have all the ability to take it by force".
