Malmo's midfield enforcer reaches career high market value after Super Eagles, UCL debuts
Published: September 17, 2021
Innocent Bonke came in for some harsh criticism after his debuts for the Super Eagles and Malmo in the group stage of the Champions League with pundits questioning his pedigree and ability to cut it at the highest level.
Transfermarkt did not take that into account when they updated the holding midfielder's valuation on Friday, September 17, with the Moderate Stars product now worth 800,000 euros - his highest market value to date.
Before his recent struggles, Bonke had been solid in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League and Swedish Allsvenskan and this earned him a maiden call-up to the Nigeria national team for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.
Bonke has seen his market value rise from €600,000 to €800,000.
He is the eleventh most valuable Malmo player, 53rd among all players in the Allsvenskan and ranked 64th among all Nigerian players.
Signed from Norwegian side Lillestrom in August 2017, the midfield enforcer has less than four months left on his contract with Malmo and will be aiming to catch the attention of the big European teams in the remaining matches of the Champions League.
Bonke's market value is 400,000 euros less than the valuation of the top scorer in the Swedish top-flight, Norrköping's Samuel Adegbenro, and 200,000 euros more than ex-Sunderland wonderkid Joel Asoro.
