Galatasaray duo apply for Schengen visa in Abuja ahead of Super Eagles friendly vs Cameroon
Published: May 27, 2021
Galatasaray duo Oghenekaro Etebo and Valentine Ozornwafor are gearing up to link up with the Super Eagles ahead of their friendly against Cameroon in Austria.
Three days ago, the midfielder and center-back, who are currently vacationing in the country, were in Abuja to apply for Schengen visas before the trip to Austria, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Enyimba pair John Noble and Anayo Iwuala were also spotted at the Embassy of Austria in Abuja on Monday.
Ozornwafor has received a call-up to the national team after spending more than two years in the international wilderness, with his last squad involvement coming against Egypt in a pre-AFCON friendly in March 2019.
Manager Gernot Rohr was forced to look his way due to the unavailability of three central defenders in Hoffenheim's Kevin Akpoguma, Leganes' Kenneth Omeruo and Glasgow Rangers' Leon Balogun who are all recovering from injuries.
Stoke City-owned player Etebo has climbed up the pecking order of central midfielders ahead of the friendly against Cameroon following the omission of Joe Aribo from the finalized roster.
Nigeria and Cameroon will do battle at the Weiner Neustadt Stadium on June 4, starting from 1930 hours (GMT).
