Man Utd's Goal of the Month nominee Shoretire left out of traveling squad to face Roma
Published: May 05, 2021Anglo-Nigerian winger Shola Shoretire is not with the Manchester United squad jetting out to the Italian capital on Wednesday afternoon ahead of their Europa League semi-final second leg against AS Roma.
Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has selected a 24-man squad for the trip to Rome and has left out the England youth international.
Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Amad Diallo and Anthony Elanga were the strikers and wingers picked ahead of Shoretire.
With the exception of the round of 32 clash vs Real Sociedad, the 17-year-old has not traveled for an away match in the Europa League, missing games against AC Milan and Granada.
He has been in fine form in his last two games in the Premier League 2, scoring braces against Chelsea and Derby County while providing an assist.
The first of his two efforts against Chelsea has been nominated for Manchester United's Goal of the Month for April.
Forty-five minutes into the contest, Shoretire evoked memories of Dennis Bergkamp when he controlled Charlie McCann's pass into the box before turning inside, holding off the defender and firing into the net.
He is up against Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga, Alejandro Garnacho, Edinson Cavani (3), Ella Toone, Mason Greenwood, Zidane Iqbal, Christen Press, Isak Hasen and Bruno Fernandes for the Goal of the Month prize.
