Tottenham Hotspur's Nigerian goalkeeper reacts to sacking of Jose Mourinho
Published: April 19, 2021Tottenham Hotspur's Nigeria-eligible goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi has reacted to the sacking of Jose Mourinho on Monday.
The respected Portuguese football tactician was relieved of his duties following a poor run of results, with Spurs currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League and in danger of missing out on European qualification for the Champions League.
Mourinho and his backroom staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been dismissed after seventeen months in charge of the north London club.
Oluwayemi has thanked Mourinho for the opportunities he gave him and teaching him to become a better goalkeeper.
The 20-year-old is now Tottenham's third choice goalkeeper, behind France World Cup winner Lloris and ex-England number one Hart, with Alfie Whiteman still recovering from knee surgery.
Writing on Instagram, Oluwayemi stated : "Thank you guys for the opportunity and all that you taught me 🙌🏾".
Spurs' next fixture is against Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup on Sunday, April 25.
