Nigeria-eligible teenager pictured training with Manchester United first team pre-Granada
Published: April 13, 2021Nigeria-eligible teenager Shola Shoretire was among the academy stars promoted to first team training by Norwegian football tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of his side's Europa League quarterfinal clash against Granada.
The 17-year-old was pictured working out with the first team at Aon Training Complex on Tuesday.
Against Granada, Shoretire is in line to be named in the matchday squad to make up the numbers as Solskjaer will not be able to count on the services of Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay who are all suspended.
Shoretire made his Premier League debut against Newcastle United on February 21 and four
days later became the youngest player in history to feature for
Manchester United in European competition when he came off the bench
against Real Sociedad.
His other matchday squad involvements since he started training with Manchester United first team in February were against Real Sociedad (away leg), AC Milan (home leg), Crystal Palace, Manchester City and West Ham United.
However, the attacking midfielder and winger is not lacking match fitness, having started the last three matches played by United in the Premier League 2.
Manchester United defeated Granada 2-0 at the Nuevo Estadio de Los Carmenes last Thursday courtesy of a Marcus Rashford strike in the first half and Bruno Fernandes' late goal.
