'He has now certainly succeeded' - Genk's Dessers admits Onuachu has convinced Super Eagles fans

Cyriel Dessers reckons that international and club teammate, Paul Onuachu has convinced Super Eagles fans of his potential after showcasing his quality as a goalscorer during last month's international break.
In terms of goals scored, the lanky striker was Nigeria's top performer during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Republic of Benin and Lesotho, netting two of the four goals scored by Gernot Rohr's team.
Onuachu netted a last-gasp header vs the Squirrels after coming off the bench and scored with seven minutes remaining against Lesotho following his introduction in the 74th minute.
In the weeks leading up to the AFCON qualifiers, Rohr publicly criticized Onuachu, saying the former FC Midtjylland man does not pull his weight when he's wearing the Super Eagles jersey, so it wasn't a surprise when he was left out of the original 24-man roster.
Majority of Super Eagles fans also had misgivings about the player's ability as he wasn't replicating his club form for the national team.
"I am very satisfied for him, especially the winning goal in Benin will change a lot for Paul," Dessers said to Het Belang van Limburg via Voetbalbelgie.
"For one reason or another, he still had a hard time convincing the supporters of his qualities, he has now certainly succeeded.
"Paul deserves all the praise and respect, he is working on a great season."
Onuachu is in remarkable form for Racing Genk, with 27 goals from 32 appearances - his personal best in a single season.
