Nigeria target Madueke makes his debut for England U21s in European Championship

Super Eagles target Nonso Madueke made his debut for England U21s as they were beaten for the second time at the ongoing European Championship group stage, this time losing 2-0 to Portugal on Sunday.
The PSV Eindhoven teenage sensation was not utilised off the bench as the Young Lions lost their first game in the tourney, a 1-0 loss to Switzerland on March 25.
Aidy Boothroyd made four changes to the the team that lost to Switzerland and one of them saw Madueke named in the starting lineup and he was on the Stadion Stožice turf for 72 minutes before making way for Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher.
Last season, Madueke was an England U18 international and has jumped three age groups following a string of fine displays for PSV in the Netherlands, with a goal involvement of 17 (9 goals, 8 assists) in 27 matches in all competitions.
The Nigeria Football Federation scouting team are keeping tabs on the Tottenham Hotspur academy product with a view to a possible call-up to the Super Eagles if he changes his nationality.
Another attacking midfielder cum winger openly courted by Nigeria in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze was introduced off the bench in the 46th minute against the Portuguese.
To reach the next round of the U21 EURO, the Young Lions must beat Croatia by a big scoreline on Wednesday and hope Portugal defeat Switzerland.
