'We know danger can come any time' - Benin coach wary of Super Eagles strikers Iheanacho, Osimhen et al
Published: March 27, 2021
The Republic of Benin coach Michel Dussuyer has admitted that the Squirrels must be wary of the Super Eagles strikers when they take to the pitch in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday evening.
It is all but confirmed that manager Gernot Rohr will hand game time to the most expensive African-born player in history Victor Osimhen and Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho who has been double-nominated for Premier League awards this month.
Racing Genk's Paul Onuachu who has tallied an astonishing 27 goals in all competitions is waiting in the wings while Henry Onyekuru has returned to form following his move to Galatasaray in the winter transfer market with a goal involvement of seven (5 goals, 2 assists) in ten league games.
"It's a great meeting. We are also looking forward to it. It's a great game too. We know what awaits us," Dussuyer said to BJ Foot.
"This Nigerian team is a great African team, therefore with individualities especially in the offensive sector.
"We know that danger can come at any time. It's up to us to be ready to play a great match as we know how to do when we meet big teams."
Osimhen may not be at his peak form at Napoli but is statistically the most key Super Eagles player in AFCON qualifying, having contributed to eighty percent of the goals (4 goals, 4 assists) scored by Gernot Rohr's team.
