Victor Osimhen acknowledges Super Eagles made mistakes vs Sierra Leone, ready for Benin
Published: March 25, 2021
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has acknowledged that the Super Eagles made mistakes in their back-to-back matches against Sierra Leone last November.
On matchday three at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Gernot Rohr's team let their four-goal lead slip away in dramatic fashion to draw with Sierra Leone and the pain was evident when Nigerian Federation boss Amaju Pinnick lambasted the players and officials in the dressing room after the game.
Things did not improve for the three-time African champions in the reverse fixture at the National Stadium in Freetown as they were forced to a goalless draw by the Leone Stars.
Osimhen has been in excellent form in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and being the leading marksman with four goals in the race for Cameroon is a testament to the fact.
Looking ahead to the game against the Squirrels, Osimhen said to Channels Television : "It won't be an easy game just like I've always been saying,"
"No team is easy in Africa, we can see we got upset by Sierra Leone in the previous game but for now we have learned from our mistakes.
"The boys are ready so I think we are good to go."

Nigeria have yet to taste defeat in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and will top Group L with a game to spare with a win against the Republic of Benin.
