Published: January 30, 2021Babajide David continued the impressive start to his career in the Turkish Super Lig by scoring and providing an assist as Hatayspor thrashed Istanbul Basaksehir 5-1 at Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu in Istanbul on Saturday afternoon.
Since his loan move from Danish champions FC Midtjylland to Hatayspor last summer, the 25-year-old has established himself as a key player for last season's TFF First League champions, starting 17 out of a possible 18 matches in the league.
Against Istanbul Basaksehir today, Babajide gave his team a 2-0 lead when he converted a spot kick in the 21st minute.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Mame Biram Diouf scored his second of the game and Hatayspor's fourth with the Nigerian winger providing the assist.
The Midtjylland loanee has been involved in seven goals in the league this season - two against Antalyaspor, two against Istanbul Basaksehir, one each against Sivasspor, BB Erzurumspor and Besiktas.
Babajide has enjoyed loan spells at Thisted, Jerv, Haugesund, Rosenborg and Omonia since joining Midtjylland from partner club FC Ebedei.
While he started and was in action for 58 minutes, ex-Nigeria U23 captain Okechukwu entered the game as a substitute in the 19th minute.
