Nigeria international Victor Osimhen risks being fined by Napoli after he was caught breaking coronavirus rules.
Footage has emerged of Napoli's most expensive player in history celebrating his 22nd birthday in Lagos without regard for social distancing measures and on top of that he was not wearing a face mask.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner later tested positive for coronavirus upon his return to Naples, putting his return to action complicated as he is still nursing a shoulder injury he suffered while on international duty with the Super Eagles in November 2020.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the maximum fine for breaking coronavirus rules is fifty percent of the gross monthly salary of the player.
Osimhen earns approximately 375,000 euros every month at Napoli, so he could be fined up to 187,500 euros (approximately N106 million in Nigerian currency).
The initial plan was for Napoli to whip Osimhen into shape before they take to the field against Juventus in the Italian Super Cup on January 20, 2021 but the date is now questionable as the striker is currently self-isolating at his house in Posillipo and not all treatment will be possible.
This coming Friday will make it two months the last time he figured for the Blues in a competitive match.
