Super Eagles Winger Back On The Goal Trail As Nantes, Dijon Share The Spoils
Published: December 13, 2020
Super Eagles winger Moses Simon ended his goal drought by finding the net for Nantes as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Dijon at the Stade de la Beaujoire - Louis Fonteneau on Sunday afternoon.
The former Gent star had not scored for six league games but ended that poor run when he broke the deadlock in the 24th minute.
Jonathan Panzo from Dijon conceded a penalty for tripping Renaud Emond and the referee decided to stay with the initial call for a penalty after a VAR check.
Simon did not tremble and converted the spot kick for only his second goal of the season.
Nantes were denied all three points when Moussa Konate deceived the goalkeeper and equalised for the visitors in the 54th minute.
Simon has not reached the heights of last season that saw him directly involved in 17 goals (9 goals, 8 assists) in 30 appearances across all competitions, leading to Nantes signing him on a permanent basis from Levante.
He has returned to full fitness after recovering from an adductor problem that saw him miss three matchdays in November.
