Napoli striker Victor Osimhen finally reported for international duty in Benin City on Wednesday ahead of Nigeria's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner has not been able to add to his international caps in 2020 because he was barred from joining the Super Eagles squad in Austria last month because the Napoli
players were ordered into quarantine following three positive COVID-19
cases.
Here's every single word Osimhen said to Super Eagles TV after undergoing a specialized training program on Wednesday evening at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
What's the feeling like returning to the Super Eagles?
It's a really a good feeling to be back with the squad and I'm really happy, and I think the squad is ready to go on Friday.
We are looking forward to the game proper on Friday, what should Nigerians expect from you?
Of course nothing but victory but to be realistic the game will never be easy and it will not be easy so we have to prepare well which we have been doing and it's also good for me to be back in the squad, I think we are all ready and we'll give our all for this win.
Initially when you heard fans may not be at the stadium, what was your reaction?
For me it's like kind of disappointing but we understand the COVID-19 situation so it's important for us for them to support us from home and anywhere they are but for their presence not to be felt in the stadium is kind of like disappointing but we can understand the situation but it's fine.
If you get to play should the fans expect goals?
For me, I think my goals will come obviously but the team's victory comes first before my personal ambition so I just want to help the team if I'm featured in this game and I'm looking forward to the game.
