Zamalek's Tunisia international Ferjani Sassi has taken to social media to dismiss reports that he has tested positive for coronavirus.
It is being claimed in the Tunisian and Egyptian press that the former Metz midfielder will not be in the Carthage Eagles squad for Tuesday's international friendly against Nigeria because he contracted COVID-19.
Saîf-Eddine Khaoui's availability is also covered in mist amid speculation in the North African press that the Marseille star contracted the virus - a claim yet to be confirmed by the Tunisian Football Federation.
Vancouver Whitecaps defender Jasser Khmiri has been ruled out of the friendly due to visa issues.
Sassi said he went into self isolation in Tunis after coming in contact with a person infected with coronavirus, effectively ruling him out of the game against the three-time African champions.
Writing on Twitter, Sassi stated: "Clarification: Respecting the health protocol in place in my country, I decided on my own to put myself in self-quarantine for 5 days after I had direct contact with covid +.
"Everything about my health is just a rumor."
The Super Eagles players and officials all tested negative to the virus before the friendly vs Algeria but will undergo a second round of COVID-19 testing on Monday, October 12.
