'He Didn't Get There' - Ex-Chelsea Star Identifies Chukwueze As Weak Link In Loss To Barca
Published: September 27, 2020Ronald Koeman has won his first official game in charge of Barcelona after the Spanish giants demolished Villarreal 4-0 at the Camp Nou on Sunday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 17-year-old Spain international Ansu Fati was the star of the show, bagging a brace and winning a penalty converted by Lionel Messi, while an own goal from Pau Torres gifted the Azulgranas a 4-0 lead at the interval.
Former Chelsea and Barcelona star Albert Ferrer criticized the performance of Samuel Chukwueze in the loss to Barcelona, saying the right winger did not help out in defence and most of Barcelona's attack came from the left flank with Fati and Jordi Alba having a field day.
In his post-match analysis on La Liga TV, Ferrer stated : "Barcelona did very well, basically they attacked through the left side first forty-five minutes.
"We have some examples here - Ansu Fati, look at the position of Mario who sometimes was late and no help for the center backs.
"Samuel Chukwueze didn't get there, Coquelin and Parejo tried to get there but most of the times were late.
"Basically, Villarreal despite having a lot of players there the intensity was not good enough and Jordi Alba was flying through the left side."

Villarreal coach made some tactical substitutions before the start of the second half and his side managed to keep Barcelona at bay in the second period.
In his third La Liga appearance of the new season, Chukwueze made way for the lively Real Madrid loanee Takefusa Kubo in the 74th minute.
