Retired Nigeria international Mutiu Adepoju has taken to social media to celebrate Real Madrid winning their 34th La Liga title, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Los Blancos were crowned champions of the Spanish top-flight following their 2-1 victory against Samuel Chukwueze's Villarreal on Thursday evening, a result that left them seven points ahead of nearest challengers Barcelona with one round left.
Adepoju first made his name in Spain with Racing Santander but has a past with Real Madrid, playing for their youth teams for three seasons prior to his move to Los Verdiblancos in 1992.
Now a La Liga Ambassador, the midfielder in his playing days, is urging Real Madrid to turn their attention to the Champions League with a quarterfinal berth up for grabs when they attempt to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Manchester City in three weeks' time.
Adepoju tweeted : "I feel on cloud nine tonight seeing my darling team win their 34th #LaLigaSantander title after defeating Villarreal. #HalaMadrid. ¡VAMOS EQUIPO! #34Ligas | #RealFootball.
"From coach Zizou down to captain Ramos and Benzema, the victory is very well deserved following the extraordinary hard work.
"Kudos to you all. Now, we have the Champions League to fight for! Until then, Who will join me to party tonight? #HalaMadrid ¡VAMOS EQUIPO! #34Ligas | #RealFootball".

Of the Nigerian players to have featured in La Liga, only Ikechukwu Uche (193) has made more appearances than Adepoju (175), who also turned out for Real Sociedad before hanging up his boots.
