Nigerian-Born Striker Nets Brace As Red Bull Salzburg Beat Derby County In UEFA Youth League
Kano-born striker Chukwubuike Adamu was the star of the show as Red Bull Salzburg thrashed Derby County 4-1 to progress to the quarterfinals of the prestigious UEFA Youth League on Wednesday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Two other players of Nigerian descent in Bryan Okoh and Karim Adeyemi started for the Austrian side, while Festy Ebosele went the distance for the current English U18 Premier League champions.

Nicolas Seiwald's third minute opener was cancelled out by Tyree Wilson fourteen minutes later.

Red Bull Salzburg were 2-1 up at the interval courtesy of Adamu's strike in the first minute of stoppage time.

At minute 70, the 18-year-old striker pounced on a rebound and slotted past goalkeeper Foster-Theniger after brilliant work from Adeyemi, before Sucic added more gloss to the scoreline with Red Bulls' fourth goal.

The three Nigerian players in Red Bull's ranks were all replaced in the second half, and former Manchester City youth-teamer Osazee Aghatise was a non-playing substitute for Derby County.

Following his strike today, Adamu has taken his tally to 11 goals in 16 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg's teams, with nine of the goals scored in the Austrian second-tier.

On the international scene, he has been in prolific form too, scoring in three consecutive matches in the U19 EURO qualifiers for Austria this season.
