Chelsea Captain Anjorin Scores Wonder Goal, Provides Assist In 7-0 Demolition Of Wolves FAYC
Published: February 11, 2020Chelsea are through to the last eight of the prestigious FA Youth Cup following their 7-0 demolition of Wolverhampton Wanderers at Aldershot on Monday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
There was a start for The Blues skipper Faustino Anjorin while goalkeepers Prince Adegoke and Kelechi Chibueze, fullbacks Ashley Akpan and Derrick Abu were not considered, with the latter on international duty with England U17s in Spain.
The 2001-born Anjorin, who is a key player for Chelsea's U23 team and regularly trains with the first team, is age-eligible for the FA Youth Cup and was brought into the squad to add firepower to the attack.
Chelsea were 4-0 up at the break thanks to goals from Maatsen, Lewis (2) and Anjorin in the space of seventeen minutes.
The versatile Anglo-Nigerian midfielder provided the assist for Chelsea's opener netted by Maatsen, then five minutes before halftime, he took matters into his own hands when he skipped past the Wolves defence before chipping goalkeeper Joe Young to make it 3-0.
With the scoreboard reading 4-0 and victory all but assured, Anjorin was replaced sixteen minutes from time.
Chelsea's reward for thrashing Wolverhampton Wanderers is a meeting with Millwall in the quarterfinals of the FA Youth Cup.
