Former Tottenham Manager: Tammy Abraham Deserves Chelsea Starts Over Giroud
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood on Thursday opined that Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham deserves the trust of head coach Frank Lampard who has preferred him over France international Olivier Giroud.

Abraham who is eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents - his father being a close friend of the Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick- has scored seven Premier League goals this season.

Sherwood bared his mind on Premier League Production's programme 'Inside The Premier League' with Chelsea's loan system the topic of discussion.

"It all depends on their different developmental pathways," the onetime Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers said in reference to Chelsea's youngsters who have been on loan at other clubs.

"Tammy wasn't ready to sit on his hands. He went to Bristol City, Swansea and Aston Villa. Anywhere he went, he scored goals so why not give him a chance.

"I'll hold up my hands and say I never expected this form from these youngsters. Mason Mount is the flagship of this youthful Chelsea side.

"To keep Olivier Giroud one of the best Premier League strikers on the bench so far- Giroud will know that Lampard is picking Tammy Abraham over him. Tammy is on the rise," the coach turned television pundit stressed.

Abraham fired blanks in Chelsea's 1-0 defeat against Valencia in Match day 1 of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday and it remains to be seen who is picked betwen him and Giroud on Sunday in the Premier League against leaders Liverpool.
